Thursday, 27th October 2016: Crowe Horwath and UCD Rugby today announced a new partnership that will see the accounting and advisory firm, which has been a sponsor of UCD RFC for the last three years, extend its support of the club by becoming its title sponsor for a further three year period.  As part of a number of initiatives celebrating their 75th anniversary, Crowe Horwath has committed to invest €75,000 over the next three seasons at UCD RFC, making it the most significant sponsorship deal for the Belfield-based club’s men’s and women’s rugby teams.

The sponsorship deal is part of Crowe Horwath’s ongoing commitment to harness the best young talent in the country both on and off the field through their graduate and sponsorship initiatives.  

UCD Rugby was established in 1910 and has become one of the best known and successful rugby clubs in the country.  In over 100 years the club has success at every level of Irish club rugby and is currently competing in the national club competition’s top tier league, the AIL Division 1A. 

For over a century UCD RFC has nurtured the development of some of the best known and most decorated Irish rugby players with a total of 79 current and former players donning the green jersey a total of 252 times while at UCD RFC. From the heroes of amateur era in the guise of Irish internationals and British and Irish Lions Ray McLoughlin, Tom Grace and Fergus Slattery to more recent legends such as Brian O’Driscoll, Rob Kearney and Sean O’Brien, the club has continued to foster the development of Ireland’s greatest rugby talent. This track record of cultivating Ireland’s best rugby players continues to the current day with Leinster stars, who are attached to the Belfield club, such as Josh van der Flier, Luke McGrath and Garry Ringrose showing the promise of past UCD legends as they are on the cusp of breaking into the Irish set-up.
