Business Journalists Corporate Challenge to raise funds for Dublin Simon Community

-16th Consecutive Year of Corporate Challenge-

The Business Journalists Association of Ireland (BJAI) today launched the 16th annual Corporate Challenge quiz, in aid of Dublin Simon Community. The event will take place on Thursday, June 2nd, 2016, at the Radisson Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 2. RTE’s Bryan Dobson will return as quizmaster and Mr. Justice Peter Kelly, President of the High Court, will adjudicate on the night. The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA); William Fry and eir are 2016 sponsors.  The Reputations Agency is donating event management and public relations services for the fifth consecutive year.

The Corporate Challenge is open to all companies interested in helping to raise funds for Dublin Simon Community, who provide services and support to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Each year the Corporate Challenge Quiz night attracts some of the top names from the world of law, business and public relations. Since the annual event begun it has raised close to €450,000 for the Dublin Simon Community.

Justyna Drogomirecka, Corporate Fundraising Manager, Dublin Simon Community said, “The BJAI Corporate Challenge fundraising initiative has been a vital fundraising lifeline for Dublin Simon Community over the years. The funds raised on the night help us to provide vital services to those who rely on us each day. Through these donations, combined with the commitment of the business community and the business journalists, we are able to continue to address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.”

The cost for a corporate table of four is €1,000. A journalist will also join a corporate table and act as an additional team member for the evening's quiz. The event starts at 7:15pm with drinks and the quiz starts at 8p.m. Last year’s winner was ABP, one of Europe's leading privately owned food processors, who were presented with a custom designed Waterford Crystal Trophy in a tense tie-breaker with WHPR, the PR agency.

Donal O’Donovan, Chair, the Business Journalist Association of Ireland, said, “When we re-started the Corporate Challenge in the depths of the 2012 gloom, we were bowled over by the support we got and the number of people telling us how much they’d missed it. Since then, many firms have experienced the Corporate Challenge for the first time, and have come to love it as much as our stalwarts. As the economy recovers, we hope to see even more newcomers this year, so we can raise even more money for this very deserving cause.”

Siobhán O' Donnell, Head of External Communications daa, said, “DAA is delighted to support the vital work of Dublin Simon Community and sponsor this excellent fundraising event. We are delighted to support an organisation that engages in such vital work with those who are homeless.”

Paul Bradley, Director of Corporate Affairs, eir, said, “eir is delighted to support the BJAI Corporate Challenge. All those who take part in the Corporate Challenge, be they sponsors, companies or journalists, have one common goal for the night - to raise as much money as possible for Dublin Simon Community so they can continue to provide the many vital services to those who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.”

Bryan Bourke, Managing Partner, William Fry, said, “With about 50 people a week becoming homeless in Ireland, we are delighted to support the BJA Corporate Challenge which helps to address the housing and homelessness issue by raising much needed funds.  It is an extremely worthy cause.”

Niamh Boyle, Managing Director, The Reputations Agency, said, “We are calling on all organisations, large and small, to participate in this fun and worthy fundraising initiative event. All you need to do is create a team of four and book a corporate table for the night to raise vital funds for Dublin Simon Community.”
