UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School Executive MBA Programme Ranked 68th Globally

The part-time Executive MBA programme at UCD Smurfit School has been ranked 68th in the world and 35th in Europe, according to the highly reputed 2018 Financial Times Top 100 Global Executive MBA Rankings, published today.

Today’s improved ranking in the Executive MBA programme is the latest in a series of highly ranked programmes showing consistent growth in recent years. The commitment to excellence shown by Ireland’s leading global business school has resulted in an impressive statistic – all programmes eligible for review are now globally ranked

Last month the full-time MSc in International Management was ranked 7th in the world in the Financial Times 2018 Global Masters in Management (MiM) ranking. Two further UCD Smurfit School programmes are currently ranked in the Financial Times Top 50 global rankings in 2018 – MSc in Finance (36th) and Smurfit Executive Development Open Enrolment programmes (48th). In recent weeks UCD Smurfit School’s MSc in Business Analytics was ranked 13th in the world and the MSc in Marketing was ranked 15th, according to QS World University Rankings. UCD Smurfit School is also currently ranked 24th in the Financial Times European Business Schools Rankings.

The Financial Times Executive MBA ranking analyses programmes based on several criteria including career progress, quality of faculty, research and diversity. As part of its analysis the Financial Times identified salary increases of 53% among Smurfit EMBA graduates within three years of completing the programme. Annual remuneration achieved within three years of graduation was $138,219, an 8% improvement on last year.

The programme had a strong international representation both from a student and faculty perspective with one quarter of programme participants from outside Ireland and 50% of faculty recruited from overseas. The programme was also ranked 18th highest for percentage of female faculty.

Speaking following publication of this latest prestigious international, independent ranking, Professor Anthony Brabazon, Dean, UCD College of Business said: “Our focus as business educators is to empower our students to become authentic business leaders who will make a meaningful impact in businesses and organisations, both at home and abroad. Smurfit-ranked programmes have shown a sustained and consistent upward trajectory in recent years reflective of the School’s ambition to be among the very best business schools in the world.

In addition to the international rankings, UCD College of Business remains the only business college in Ireland (and one of only 86 worldwide) to hold accreditation from three centres of business and academic excellence: EQUIS (Europe); AACSB (US); and AMBA (UK), having retained the accreditation in May of this year. In doing so UCD College of Business remains accredited alongside some of the world’s elite business schools including: Harvard Business School; IMD; London Business School; Stanford University; INSEAD; and Yale School of Management.
