An Post’s New Christmas Ad Ignites Heart-Warming Emotion of Cherished Christmas Memories

Make a Memory’, the new Christmas campaign from An Post tells the story of how Christmas traditions have the power to unite generations. With families kept apart since March, An Post and their advertising agency Folk Wunderman Thompson, tell the story of how important a simple act of sending a Christmas card be. How it can evoke memories, bring a smile, and show someone that you are thinking of them. In the new creative the Christmas card is the special link connecting a grandfather, his son and his granddaughter, acting as the catalyst to triggering a happy memory and bringing a family together.

And it wouldn’t be Christmas without the surprise – and this particular surprise brings all the magic you would expect at Christmas time connecting the best bits of the past alongside new traditions for the future. As we edge ever closer to the Christmas season, there has never been a more important time to connect with family and friends in any way that we can - reminiscing about old memories and making new ones as we prepare for the reality of Christmas 2020.

Julie Gill, Commercial Director at An Post added ‘At An Post know the sheer joy and delight that a Christmas card coming through the letterbox brings for so many and this campaign highlights how, even the smallest of gestures, can conjure the happiest of memories for many. While this Christmas will be different to what we’re used to we want to shine a light on the happy memories that have already been made through the years and the power they have to carry us through to all the great Christmases that are yet to come.’
‘This year we want to encourage the nation to relish those memories with family and friends and maybe even start some new traditions, like the kids sending a Christmas card to their grandparents, which will spark joy and give them that much needed lift.’

Speaking on the creative insight behind the campaign, Karl Waters, Creative Partner, Folk said ‘There’s so much magic in sending a Christmas card. It’s the perfect way to tell a loved one you’re thinking of them, and they hold memories that represent a time and a place. This year we’ll all be thinking of Christmas’s from years gone by, in the hope that this one can mean the same. And of course it can, so long as we connect with our loved ones in some way, and sending a card will always hold the same meaning.’
