As part of this special Christmas news bulletin Bryan Dobson delivered the good news that with a week until Christmas Eve Santa Claus has been given the all clear for international travel, the Christmas Elves have completed their work in Santa Claus’s workshop and Rudolph has fully recovered from a hoof injury. The children of Ireland will be relieved to know that Dobson also confirmed that the mystery of the missing list of the good boys and girls for Christmas 2020 has been solved just in time for Christmas Eve. Throughout 2020 the Kildare based children’s charity has continued to support and serve seriously ill children and their families through their virtual Barretstown Live programmes, a new innovative and interactive experience broadcast live each week for families in need of some fun. This Christmas will be particularly difficult for these families as they shield away from extended family and friends. Covid-19 has highlighted the need for virtual programming to serve Barretstown’s existing campers and new campers, who may have been unable to come to Barretstown, due to the complexities of their medical needs.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the charity has had to cancel many of its key fundraising events. These events provide crucial income for Barretstown which relies on the public to provide 98% of the funds that make their work possible. To help continue to support seriously ill children and their families, Barretstown is asking the Irish public to visit www.Barretstown.org to donate or visit their online shop to support Barretstown in any way they can this Christmas.
