Travel Smarter and Pay Less with An Post and TFI Leap Card

Savings of up to 30% on public transport fares with TFI Leap Card

Public can enjoy smarter travel with seamless and convenient top-ups available at over 2,300 Post Offices and Post Points nationwide

Public transport just got smarter and more affordable thanks to a partnership between An Post and the National Transport Authority (NTA). On top of savings of up to 30% on transport fares with TFI Leap Cards and the expansion of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan offering enhanced services nationwide, TFI Leap Cards can now be purchased and topped up at over 2,300 Post Offices and Post Points nationwide, making public transport services more accessible to the general public.

As part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, 2023 saw the National Transport Authority launch 65 new and enhanced bus services in towns and townlands, resulting in over 190 towns and villages across Ireland now having better connections to public transport options. New local link routes such as Route 170 Cavan to Dundalk and Route 387 Wexford to Rosslare Europort provide better connectivity and mobility to communities across large parts of Cavan and Wexford. Other services including the 426 TFI Local Link Longford to Roscommon through Westmeath, greatly improves access to essential services and resources for residents living in areas that are often overlooked as commuter routes.

As the summer season kicks off with popular sporting occasions, music events and festivals in cities and towns and family days out, the cost of attending an event combined with increased fuel prices can add stress to what should be an enjoyable occasion. Availing of the newly improved local transport and public transport services when travelling to and from this summer’s festivities can prove to be a more time and cost-convenient option for many communities.

Debbie Byrne, Managing Director of An Post Retail, highlights the benefits of the collaboration with NTA: “An Post offers the largest retail network in the country with a huge range of financial, top-up, and other services in c900 Post Offices and 1400 PostPoint locations nationwide. We are committed to continually offering new products and services through the post office network to drive both the relevancy and sustainability of the network.

“Our partnership with the National Transport Authority goes beyond just convenience; it ensures inclusivity in the public transport system making Leap Cards accessible to everyone, regardless of their tech savviness or preferred payment method. We are committed to ensuring that consumers who wish to use cash are facilitated to do so.”

As a central hub for the community, the post office is the perfect spot for commuters to top-up and buy Leap Cards alongside their other errands.
