Journalists raise over €40,000 for Dublin Simon Community

The Business Journalists Association of Ireland (BJAI) raised over €40,000 for the Dublin Simon Community at their annual Corporate Challenge quiz, held Wednesday (25th September) at the Radisson Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8. This is the 19th year that the Corporate Challenge quiz has taken place and the event has raised close to €640,000 for Dublin Simon Community to date.

Ibec was the overall winners of the quiz beating stiff competition from Teneo in second.

RTE’s Bryan Dobson returned as quizmaster and Director of the Centre for Corporate Governance at UCD, Senator Michael McDowell adjudicated on the night. An Post and DAA supported the event with The Reputations Agency working closely with the BJAI on all elements of the fundraising project including the media, sponsorship and event management. The Corporate Challenge is open to all companies interested in helping to raise funds for Dublin Simon Community and attracts top corporates every year.

Sam McGuinness, Dublin Simon Community, said, “The BJAI Corporate Challenge fundraising initiative continues to be a vitally important event for Dublin Simon Community. At a time when homelessness is increasing at a frightening rate, we now more than ever rely on independent fundraising initiatives like this to support the work we do.  We’d like to express our thanks to the BJAI for their enduring support as our long-term partner. We also want to thank the many supporters who contributed in their own way to make tonight’s event a great success.”

Speaking at the event, Barry O’Halloran BJAI, said, “As business journalists we have unique access to corporate Ireland and the BJA Corporate Challenge is our opportunity to use that to the benefit of the wider community. Every year companies, sponsors and journalists come together to make the BJA quiz a fantastic event and raise much-needed funds for the Dublin Simon Community. After another successful event, we’d like to say thank you to all of them.”
